Evolution, Beached Whales and Liberals

125 Pilot Whales Die on New Zealand Beaches, 43 Saved

WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- Some 125 pilot whales died in New Zealand after stranding on the beach over the weekend -- but vacationers and conservation workers Sunday managed to coax 43 others back out to sea.

Have you ever been behind a Subaru with a Christian 'sign of the fish' with the feet and 'DARWIN' cleverly integrated within it? This (liberal do-gooder) vehicle probably also has or had a 'Save the Whales' bumper sticker as well.

New Zealand beaches commonly get stranded whales this time of year. Liberal do-gooders try to save them. Why? It's the natural order of things. Whales evolved from land animals. Evolution has not stopped. Is this the beginning of the whales evolving back to land animals? Beaching behavior appears to be suicidal--to us. Doesn't this behavior cull the herd, as it were, to remove those with a tendency to beach? What happened to survival of the fittest?

When the beasts first started wallowing in the shallow lagoons, did some drown? If these liberal do-gooders were around 50-some million years ago, would they have built fences on the beach to keep the animals out of the water?

From the article above:

Large numbers of whales become stranded on New Zealand's beaches each summer as they pass by on their way to breeding grounds from Antarctic waters. Scientists so far have been unable to explain why whales become stranded.

Lets come up with a few explainations...

  1. Hormones. They are on their way to breeding grounds. They could be disoriented thinking about that glorious romp in the waves.
  2. Plate Tectonics. New Zealand may now be in the way of their historical migration path, and they try to take a shortcut overland. There is pleasure at the end of the journey, afterall. Wouldn't you want to get there as quickly as possible?
  3. Chemical imbalance. Mixed signals have them thinking they can walk (and mate) on land...like in the old days.
  4. Evolution. Why do people think they need to preserve species as they know them? What happened to survival of the fittest?

So the liberal do-gooders who try to save beached whales are meddling with nature and actually doing the species a great disservice. Instead of letting evolution and 'survival of the fittest' run its course, the gene pool gets polluted with whales who have a tendency to try to go back to the land of their ancestors. Our civilization is a fraction of a blink of an eye in the history of the Earth. Species come and go. Ask the dinosaurs.

Lawmakers Spar Over Decision to Transfer Gitmo Detainees to Illinois Prison

Lawmakers Spar Over Decision to Transfer Gitmo Detainees to Illinois Prison
From the article...

"This means a lot for our state in terms of economic opportunity," Quinn told reporters during Tuesday's announcement, adding that the vacant prison will become "the most secure prison in America."

"We're in a depressed area of Illinois ... with severe unemployment. More than 3,000 jobs will be created," he said, noting that "no one has ever escaped from a federal prison."

That's the plan folks, BO (whew, what stinks?) is going to make it so bad, that people will rationalize anything...yes Granny, this will include your death panel.

For now, The Republic Endures.

Stagnating Temperatures Climatologists Baffled ...

Stagnating Temperatures
Climatologists Baffled by Global Warming Time-Out

Global warming appears to have stalled. Climatologists are puzzled as to why average global temperatures have stopped rising over the last 10 years. Some attribute the trend to a lack of sunspots, while others explain it through ocean currents.

Anyone want to bet that the Gore-bot will take credit for this?

The UK will provide £250 million towards a £600 million expansion of the International Financing Facility for Immunisation to allow improvement of health systems, the PM has said.

Nice to see the UK will be standing by us to pay for Obamacare, as our economy continues to be run into the ground...

Another BO lie!

Poles, Czechs: US missile defense shift a betrayal

WARSAW, Poland – Poles and Czechs voiced deep concern Friday at President Barack Obama's decision to scrap a Bush-era missile defense shield planned for their countries.

"Betrayal! The U.S. sold us to Russia and stabbed us in the back," the Polish tabloid Fakt declared on its front page.

Can someone tell me what the BO meant when he campaigned on the USA making friends and having people in the international community like us?

All I want is a little R & R

UAE seized N.Korea arms shipment bound for Iran

UNITED NATIONS, Aug 28 (Reuters) - The United Arab Emirates has seized a cargo of North Korean weapons being shipped to Iran, which would have violated a U.N. embargo on arms exports from the communist state, Western diplomats said on Friday.

The weapons seized on Aug. 14 included rocket launchers, detonators, munitions and ammunition for rocket-propelled grenades, they said. The ship, called the ANL-Australia, was Australian-owned and flying a Bahamas flag.

Bernake, Kennedy, Obamacare... what the heck does a guy have to do to get a vacation around here? You go up to MV and old Kennedy croaks, re-appoint Bernake as the economy continues to tank and the Town Halls, sheesh. He is planning to take a vacation from his vacation at Camp David...now this!

Can't a guy get some rest?

Paper appologizes to Clinton

Washington Post appologizes for a Clinton joke.

WASHINGTON -- Two Washington Post journalists are apologizing and their satirical online video series has been canceled following criticism of a joke they told about Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

When I first read this head line, I thought it was some remark about Bill Clinton initiating the two female journalists into the mile high club on the way back from North Korea. After all, he did free them.

But it wasn't!

In the video, columnist Dana Milbank and White House correspondent and blogger Chris Cillizza appeared in smoking jackets to discuss the kinds of beer politicians might drink. Milbank said he couldn't reveal to whom President Barack Obama would serve a drink called "Mad B---- Beer." That line was followed by a brief picture of Clinton.

32 women from a special interest group signed a letter complaining...that's all it took to get an apology. Now I have not heard where these people complained about the media's treatment of Sarah Palin, but then S.P. does not fit the stereotype of a leftist liberal woman who drives a Subaru, if you know what I mean.

Isn't it ironic that this liberal, interest group whose supposed mission is "to to strengthen the voice of progressive and marginalized women in society", does so by complaining and nagging just like the stereotypical woman?

Special interest groups have the most of media in chains. The media goes right along with it. Funny how history repeats itself. It is fascinating to stand back and watch this. So much so, I am going to do a thesis on it.

Michael Jackson's death, a nice diversion

Michael Jackson is gone. Well, not quite. His final concert is Tuesday I guess. I am not going, not even going to watch it on TV. What I am doing today is looking for a new homepage. CNN.com just plain sucks. They seems to try really hard to get the bogus election in Iran in the hearts and on the minds of Americans. Nobody seemed to care. People at work were not talking about it around the water cooler. Honduras ousted their bogus president. Still no talk.

Then Jacko died. On CNN.com, there was still a little special coverage on Iran. Not anymore. Wall-to-wall MJ. Cut to CNN programming meeting...

...
When is his birthday? We will need a special tribute on his birthday.
...
Oh, oh, next month will be the anniversary of his former father-in-law. Maybe we can do a joint tribute?
That's a great idea.
...

Give the people what they want. Yeah, sure, OK. They are hypnotized and can not see what is coming.

What is the big news in the USA on this July 4 eve? How Obama is going to screw us with the crap and tirade energy bill, socialized medicine, and economic shambles.
I think this sums it up nicely.
But who cares? Didn't you hear that Michael Jackson died?!

The Republic Endures, but probably not much longer.

Duke's latest rape case

The story started out like any other child sexual abuse story.
An alleged disgusting pervert.

But the focus is changing...
Gay parents hope abuse case does not limit adoptions

While Frank Lombard awaits his transfer to Washington, D.C., to face child sex charges, some Triangle dads worry that his alleged crimes could reflect poorly on their desire to raise a family.

Here we have a new rape case involving Duke University. The first one turned out to be a great big "egg-on-your-facer" for the media, prosecutor, accuser, and 88 faculty. It seems that media coverage for the new case is pretty much local only. Is the national media now "once bitten, twice shy" when it comes to Duke rape cases?

Perhaps the lack of coverage is because the alleged per(p/v). is a distinguished university administrator (Lombard is associate director of the Center for Health Policy at Duke.)? We wouldn't want to ruin more reputations with another trial in the media. Never mind the fact that the victim in this one is a 5 year old child. The reputation of a fine university is at stake. The child is seemingly being portrayed as cannon-fodder in the battle for gay rights.

No, this is not about raping children, it is now about Gay Rights. Yes! that is the issue here. The media likes to portray the real victim of these alleged horrible crimes as the misunderstood, gay adoptive parent of the child or the minority single mother, etc. The plight of these misunderstood people is the real story. We should show empathy (right, Sotomayor?). Forget that laws have been broken.

It is a shame what happened to this child. And it is a shame to see the selfishness of people who are worried how these events will affect their ability to adopt children. We can only hope and pray that justice is served. And may the wounds inflicted by this case be healed by the grace of God.

UPDATE: CNN buried the story on their crime page.

Taxes = Lose-Lose

The greedy politicians up in Raleigh are making it harder for us little people to make a few bucks.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Amazon.com said Friday it has pulled the plug on commissions for North Carolina Web sites that make referrals to the online retailer, because a law designed to collect taxes on some of its sales transactions could soon be enacted.

So what is the result? Us little folks will have less $$ to spend on the items that they are raising taxs on like movie tickets, alcohol, etc.
It's a Lose-Lose, but the politicians vision is fogged by greed and power.

Crime pays $1.86

Here is Rex Harold Smith.

Here is the story of this dirtbag. Rex Harold Smith, begged his cousin to rent a house to him. Of course he didn't pay the bottom of the barrel rate of $100/month. Instead he started taking the aluminum siding off the house to sell for scrap...which he cashed in for a whopping $1.86 at the local scrap metal recycler.

His cousin asked what he was doing with the siding. His response...

Well, I thought there might be termites under.

So now, the taxpayers are paying his rent as he sits his ass in the Johnston County jail for obtaining property by false pretense and felony conspiracy. Bond was set at $7500. We'll be paying his rent for quite a while...

Reason #44 for term limits.

North Carolina Democrat politics make you just shake your head in disgust. The John Edwards Honey payoff is being investigated. The former governor Mike Easley (D) is being investigated by the FBI for taking gifts in the form of private jet rides among other things while in office. There is a federal grand jury investigation going on right now. Not to mention Mrs. Easley's sweetheart job at the state university. Several people have resigned over her hiring and 88% pay raise to . She is holding firm and staying put for now...Nancy Pelosi is her role-model. Lots of folks are calling for her resignation including University of North Carolina President Erskine Bowles. (Yes, that Erskine Bowles--who also landed a sweetheart job after being BJ Clinton's chief of staff.)

So that brings us to State Rep. Cary Allred. This guy has an 'R' next to his name (for now). He is reported to have had a drinky-poo or two, and stole a peck on the cheek from a 17 year old female page on the state house floor. He claims it was harmless and the girl is a neighbor and like his granddaughter. I have read reports where she has said the same thing. Nonethelesss, the state GOP leadership is not happy with him and is asking him to resign:

Linda Daves, chairwoman of the state Republican Party, said Thursday that Allred should resign.

"Conducting oneself in an honorable and ethical manner while acting as a public servant should be a mandate for both political parties," Daves said in a statement. "The North Carolina Republican Party is committed to recruiting candidates for public office who are men and women of unwavering integrity and honesty. All others need not apply."

I see a pattern here Republicans often take the high road. Richard Nixon resigned, Bill Clinton didn't. Newt Gingrich and Bob Livingstone resigned, Nancy Pelosi hasn't...

Rep. Allred was also caught speeding (102 m.p.h) and got a pass from the state trooper, initially. This guy is just up to his eyeballs in it.

Now here is where this gets good...Allred's response to his troubles-- He is going to change his letter to a 'D'!
He said he would switch to the Democratic Party next week...

Yep, he will solve his problems by joining the party of the Ass. After all they are the party of tolerance (to sexual abuse, abuse of power, lying, cheating on taxes, etc.)

The Democratic Party: A Safe-Haven for Scumbags.

The house leader is welcoming him with open arms...
A spokesman for House Speaker Joe Hackney said Allred "is welcome to do whatever he wants when it comes to party affiliation,"...

An American disgrace

CNN reports...

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- The Rev. Michael Pfleger has ordered the American flag at St. Sabina Church hung upside-down -- a historic sign of distress -- to symbolize the growing death toll among the city's youngsters.

So far this school year, 36 children and teens have been murdered -- more than one a week -- and Pfleger is among a chorus of weary Chicagoans who say the slayings aren't getting the attention they deserve.

Chicago. It's controlled by a powerful democrat party. It's hometown of the president. It's a dangerous place to be a kid.

More kids have been murdered in Chicago than have died of the swine flu in the entire country.

So this issue is getting some national attention. You know what we'll will hear out of Chi-town..."we need more tax dollars for programs to protect these kids."

Folks, that ain't the answer. Its time for a change. When will people wake up and realize the democrats are playing them? When the teat runs dry?

John Edwards' troubles

From our local TV station...
Raleigh, N.C. — A federal investigation is under way into whether funds from John Edwards' presidential campaign were used inappropriately, according to Wade Smith, an attorney for the former U.S. senator.

This guy is toast, politically. Elizabeth is throwing up over the affair. She should divorce him and get a nice settlement from the millions he made suing physicians, etc. If she does not get out now, there won't as much cash left after he gets through with the campaign irregularities.
Jump Elizabeth, jump.

Where's the Pulitzer?, or How Madoff, madeoff (with billions)

CNN/Fortune...

How Bernie Madoff did it
Madoff is behind bars and isn't talking. But a Fortune investigation uncovers secrets of his massive swindle.
NEW YORK (Fortune) -- Since Bernard Madoff was arrested in December and confessed to masterminding a multi-billion Ponzi scheme, countless people have wondered: Who else was involved? Who knew about the fraud? After all, Madoff not only engineered an epic swindle, he insisted to the FBI that he did it all by himself. To date, Madoff has not implicated anybody but himself.

Someone is looking for a Pulitzer here. But people, there is an easy one out there...how about a little investigative journalism on Obama? Be a part of history. Uncover his socialist connections and bring him down, while bringing yourself up. Make Woodword and Bernstein proud.

"Obama read, trees bled"

Watching this CNN video, is it possible that even the administration has taken to belt tightening? BOTO can be seen reading his remarks from paper, not the teleprompter!

We need to get to the bottom of what is going on here:

  • Will we see TOTUS in the unemployment line on Monday?
  • Perhaps TOTUS has been overworked and just hired a printer to get a few days rest?
  • Was the power in the Caribbean dirty causing TOTUS to crash and he needs a reload?
  • Has TOTUS met with an 'unfortunate accident' and will the government cover it up?

Is there some risk for this president to read his remarks from paper?

Picture the protest signs now..."Obama read, trees bled!".
Then a conversation by the Soros backed protest organizers...

"But wait, he is promoting our socialist agenda by reading that paper."
"You're right, I forgot about our double standard. Destroy those signs immediately. Burn them or get them to the landfill, NOW!"
"Right. Then I'll tweet everyone and get them to disperse until we check with George on how he wants to handle this."

The tides of change

The tides are changing. You can feel it. The tea parties were a great success. The lack of or negative coverage by traditional media, and Nancy Pulosi calling an astroturf movment is having the opposite effect. That's the tide. You can feel it changing. That makes this country great. I have a glimmer of hope.

IBM--A bastion of capitalism.

From CNN.com...

(CNN) -- IBM's reported plans to lay off thousands of U.S. workers and outsource many of those jobs to India, even as the company angles for billions in stimulus money, doesn't sit well with employee rights advocates.

This sits perfectly with shareholders, however.

Take a look at the stock price over the last year...

Compare that to the DJIA...

IBM is a solid company with solid leadership. They are working for their shareholders as any public company should. The industry has changed, IBM has adapted. And doing a very nice job of it. IBM is not running a charity. Long live CAPITALISM!

Discovered lost video surfaces!

Here is a link to some video from the formative years of Barack Obama's bowling career.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dykurIVTOZo

Seriously, these Special Olympics people are nothing but class. How gracious that organization was in this article.

The president "expressed his heartfelt and sincere commitment to work with our athletes and make this country a more accepting place for people with special needs," Lum, the organization's president, said.

What Obama said on The Tonight Show adds to the discussion that's needed to raise awareness and has proven "an incredibly important and seriously teachable moment," Lum said.

From playgrounds to the "top rungs of our leadership, including our president," he said Americans have plenty to talk about and learn when it comes to stereotypes and how words can sting.

Any takers that this will be spun by the Administration as an intentional comment to raise awareness of the Special Olympics and their athletes? Really, these people have no souls.

Now I wonder if BOTO can spell potato?

Teleprompter-tales: Bush vs. Obama

I have blogged about this before...the teleprompter. Gaining so much attention these days. It even has its own blog.

We all remember President Bush, with cat-like reflexes, ducking the shoes...

(NOTE: no teleprompter)

Now, suppose BOTO was up there, with his awkwardly shifting eyes, concentrating on his teleprompter text scrolling by...

Would he have been able to duck the shoes?
Naw, don't think so. However, he might be OK if the guy was a bad aim and hit one of the prompter screens. But that might have broken it. Then BOTO would be stuck looking in one direction all the time. Now that would make him look more like a dufus. Watching him is more entertaining than American Idol or Dancing with the Stars.

With something like this...

The guy would be voted off Idol in a minute.

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

My bad.

OK, so now, everyone wants to take responsibility for the AIG bonuses?

From CNN...

(CNN) -- Senate Banking committee Chairman Christopher Dodd told CNN Wednesday that he was responsible for language added to the federal stimulus bill to make sure that already-existing contracts for bonuses at companies receiving federal bailout money were honored.

An BOTO wants to take responsibility at some town hall meeting (maybe that's what got loaded into the teleprompter).

There must have been a focus group which indicated if someone would take responsibility, they would get sympathy or people in general would not be so P.O.'d with this mess.

Hitchin' a ride

From over at CNN.com

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Florida (CNN) -- A bat that apparently had trouble flying instead tried to hitch a ride on the space shuttle Discovery, NASA officials said.
The rodent was last seen clinging on the foam of the external tank of the space shuttle moments before the Discovery launched, officials said.
...
The crew of the Discovery safely docked at the International Space Station on Tuesday. It was unclear whether its stowaway was still clinging to the shuttle.

Since the bat was 'clinging' to the external fuel tank (which gets dropped), its highly unlikely it is still with the shuttle. Don' cha think?

Fool me once...

This headline caught my attention:
Analysts: Next bailout will be a tougher sell

from the article...

(CNN) -- The American International Group debacle could be setting President Barack Obama up for trouble, should his administration try to move forward with additional bailouts.

Now take a look at this link.

$11 trillion. Eleven trillion dollars. ELEVEN TRILLION DOLLARS! Of Debt!

This is insanity. I overhear a lot of people at work, at the park, at my kids' school talking about the current state of the economy. Support for the BOTO is drying up faster than water spilled from a canteen in the desert.

YOU THINK HE MIGHT HAVE A TOUGHER SELL ON THE NEXT BAILOUT?!?

Are you all related to Mr. Obvious?

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

The Republic Endures. For now.

Incompetent or CYA?

From ABCNEWS.com
Obama Administration: We Didn't Find Out About AIG Bonuses Until This Month

March 17, 2009 7:18 PM

Sources in the Obama administration Tuesday said that despite previous media reports administration officials did not know until a couple weeks ago that the officials of the controversial AIG Financial Product Division were set to receive $165 million in bonuses on March 13.

Are these people really that clueless? Are they playing the CYA card? Is ignorance bliss? Is this guy really our president or is this just a bad dream? Inquiring minds want to know!

Friends close, enemies closer

The president spouted in campaign rhetoric, in his administration, more countries around the world will like us again. Apparently the Russians like us so much now that they even want to keep their strategic bombers close to ours.

MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- Russia expressed interest in using Cuban airfields during patrol missions of its strategic bombers, Russia's Interfax news agency reported

Earlier this week, there was an incident with the Chinese Navy.

This administration is cutting defense spending and increasing entitlement spending.

Perhaps the plan is to 'keep our friends close, and our enemies closer'? Maybe this explains why Gordon Brown was dissed as well as the amateur antics of having the Brazilian President here.

Michelle Obama’s Job Eliminated

Times are tough all over, the Obama's are down to one income,

She hasn’t shown up for work very regularly over the last year or so, so when Michelle Obama’s $300,000 job was cut at the University of Chicago Hospitals, it may have been hard to notice the difference.

Stimulus bill = 'Raw Deal'

I guess it was 30 years ago, the government gave out surplus cheese. Now they are giving out pork, but we do not have a surplus. All you little kiddies out there, you are going to be working for the man to pay for this pork bill the president signed today.

Some are saying this is the next 'New Deal'. I call it the 'Raw deal' and it's full of pork. Everyone knows the dangers of ingesting raw pork--trichinosis. From this site

Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, fatigue, fever, and abdominal discomfort are the first symptoms of trichinellosis.

Yep, that pretty much sums up how I have been feeling about this bill.

Unemployment

Our new junior senator claims the new pork bill will create 105000 jobs in North Carolina. Currently, there are 400000 unemployed in the state which comes in at 8.7%. Therefore there are about 4.6 million workers. So fair citizens, we can look for an unemployment rate of (400000 - 105000)/4600000, which comes out to 6.4%. (Don't hold your breath waiting for this number.)

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Hold on to your hat

The unemployment numbers for January come out tomorrow. Hold on to your hat. The dismal numbers will likely cause BOTO to push harder to quickly pass his, Reid and Pelosi's pork bill.

Ice breaker -- $88 million

I understand there is $88 million in the Obama Big Government bill for designing a new ice breaker for the coast guard. If all the ice is melting, why on earth would you need a new ice breaking ship? Sounds like more wasteful spending.

Pot, meet kettle.

This article on CNN.com...

"We have a bunch of idiots on Wall Street that are kicking sand in the face of the American taxpayer," an enraged McCaskill said on the floor of the Senate on Friday. "They don't get it. These people are idiots. You can't use taxpayer money to pay out $18 billion in bonuses."

Seems to me we have a bunch of idiots in congress voting to use taxpayer money to bail failed companies out in the first place...Pot McCaskill, meet Mr. Kettle.

The Minnesota senate race

This is getting almost as embarrassing as the clown parade of tax cheats marching through the Oval Office.

As a punishment, can't we just strip Minnesota of their second senate seat for six years and go with the 99. That way there will be no tie votes and Joe Biden won't have to make an ass out of himself in some way (though it is entertaining).

Obama's "Don't ask, don't tell"

While still trying to get the Iranians to sing Kumbya with us, it looks like the O-man is pulling the old 'wink-wink, nod-nod" routine with the trade policy.

In recycling all the old Clintonistas, this sounds a lot like old Bill's gays in the military don't ask, don't tell policy. But this time its "Don't not buy American, don't tell who where you bought it. With the some money you got from me. I gave you to stimulate yourself with. OK guys? I screwed up."

So to appease the EU friends (who are on their way to sing Kumbya with us around a campfire), do NOT buy American stuff at WalMart to create overpaid manufacturing jobs here in the US of A (wink-wink, nod-nod). OK guys?

Obama's plan for Iran and their satellite.

In this article...
The United States will use "all elements of our national power" to deal with Iran...

This polito-speak can only mean one thing...Obama is going to tax them into submission and give them birth control products!

Remember, He did cut his teeth in Chicago

Here we have some rumblings of the beginning of the end of the honeymoon...
During almost two years on the campaign trail, Barack Obama vowed to slay the demons of Washington, bar lobbyists from his administration and usher in what he would later call in his Inaugural Address a "new era of responsibility." What he did not talk much about were the asterisks.

The exceptions that went unmentioned now include a pair of cabinet nominees who did not pay all of their taxes. Then there is the lobbyist for a military contractor who is now slated to become the No. 2 official in the Pentagon. And there are the others brought into government from the influence industry even if not formally registered as lobbyists.

Like Balgo, BOTO probably believes there is nothing wrong with this.  (Watch this interview, this guy had me rooting for him!)

He will read the teleprompter, awkwardly shifting from the left screen to the right screen.  People will swoon, some will faint. (Can I get an Amen?)  Soon the media and the public will grow tired of the novelty of this historic administration.  Much like we grow tired of a song that gets overplayed on the radio (like "Achey-Breaky Heart", or "Beat It").

This four-year administration is going to be more entertainment than the entire Clinton administration.

Location: Jackson, Miss.

He wrote a letter to BOTO.

What a shame he no longer qualifies for coverage under Mommy and Daddy's health plan. If you really are healthy, why not get the bare basics plan?

Darren goes on...
A public commitment from these government agencies to use local merchants and contractors would serve as a vote of confidence in our local business community.

Of course, that would probably lead to all kinds of corruption and cronyism from politicians and business people who went to grade school together. Not to mention the outcry from minority and rural businesses who deserve a shot at a lucrative government contract.

Furthermore, apparently people in Jackson Mississippi are desperate for people from San Franscico as Darren says:
My girlfriend is moving here from San Francisco, and she's worried about the economy. But I tell her she's smart and talented, and from San Francisco. People down here are desperate for that.
Honey, if you really are smart, you stay as far away from this guy as possible.

Darren continues...
I'm not feeling any cutback in business yet, and honestly that's because Jackson is so hungry for young, creative professionals.

Cool, the young, creative professionals are going to support us old creative professionals...

This was the second (and last) letter on the CNN website I read. It was painful and I could not take it anymore. If you read any of them, please comment here.

MN senate race

What a mess they have in Minnesota. Penned here by MICHAEL STOKES PAULSEN

You would think people would learn. The recount in the contest between Norm Coleman and Al Franken for a seat in the U.S. Senate isn't just embarrassing. It is unconstitutional.

He concludes:

And what if there is no reliable way to determine in a recount who won, consistent with Bush v. Gore's requirements?

The Constitution's answer is a do-over.

Sounds like a good idea to me. We saw the voter's remorse in Georgia when Saxby Chambliss won in a landslide. This do-over would be a good measure of the sentement of the country considering what the new president is doing...

Campus snowball fight...

See what happens when you through a little snow in with some college students still drunk on the Obama presidency?

Kids who don't learn about snowballs from childhood end up arrested...another reason to fight global warming...or maybe we should promote it so nobody gets hurt by another snowball?

Caroline (Kennedy) Schlossberg

CAROLINE KENNEDY ENDS SENATE SEAT BID

Has Mrs. Schlossberg paid her dues to the Democrat party with this 'campaign loss'? Does she now have her sights on Uncle Ted's MA seat? It can't be long now.

UPDATE: This NYT article eludes to this...
The person told of her decision said that Ms. Kennedy’s concerns about the health of her uncle, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, who suffers from brain cancer and was hospitalized after suffering a seizure Tuesday, prompted her to withdraw.

Campaign promise?, what campaign promise?

This is interesting... it says in part:

not everything that we talked about during the campaign are we going to be able to do on the pace we had hoped

I would love to see Peggy Joseph's reaction to this...

Television 2009

We own a 15-1/2 year old, 27" television. It works great. I have no reason to upgrade it. Last night I briefly turned on the Texas vs. Ohio State game. Apparently, the folks broadcasting the game think everyone has a wide screen set. The graphic overlays were cut off on the left and right side of the screen. It was horrible. I am sure there are lots more poor people like me out there.

I have also heard that the money set aside for the $40 coupons for converting the new digital signals to work with older TVs is gone. I did not get one.

What am I going to do? Who is going to help me?

Have no fear, thank goodness for BOTO, because I am sure he will give me a new wide-screen TV (in addition to paying my mortgage and putting gas in my cars).

This is the American Dream!

Leon Panetta

So we have another Clinton retread in the new administration. We knew BOTO (Barack Obama, The One) had to sell his soul, but this is getting ridiculous...
